Fred Thompson Exits Stage Right

Now that Thompson has dropped out where do his votes go? Due to the friendship factor some will undoubtedly go to McCain. The social conservatives may go to Huckabee. But I think Ron Paul will get a bump as well, due to his unwavering support of the 9th and 10th amendments. Thompson talked a lot about returning to our republican states rights type goverance. While this essentially actually alienates a lot of the social conservatives (though they don't always realize it) it is something that many people like to hear about. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens and where his 5-10% goes as the field is so muddled right now.

Maybe he killed Heath Ledger, and is going to on the run, so he doesn't have time to run for president.

OR...

Jake Gyllenhal roughed him up worse than we thought... LOL!!

Most of Fred's votes are actually going to Romney.

Here's an example:

Hugh must be pretty upset about that. Maybe after our former radical Islamic allies goes the way of Communism we can turn our sights on the mormons? Is that the argument now? tehehee.

Seriously though, I don't see Mitt playing well in the south. Too many religious litmus tests, class-ism and distrust of Noreasteners. Also, with the exception of the 30% in the hugh crowd (ie history will remember Bush 43 as the greatest potus, who cares if all the listed reasons for iraq were proven wrong) I think the 1st MBA potus may have left a sour taste in some peoples mouth, esp. the 90% of the US who do not make over $100,000.

Ateamblog,

Hugh also did not include Ron Paul in the raw votes or potential delegate counts. Beyond that, his audience tend to be fairly likeminded to him. This poll doesn't convince me that the general public is thinking the same way.
